Job Description: Counsellor / Clinical Psychologist (Residential Institute)
Location: Full-time, on-campus
Job Type: Residential, with on-call responsibilities beyond duty hours
Reports to: Student Affairs Office / Dean of Students


Job Purpose

The Counsellor / Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for supporting the emotional, psychological, and mental wellbeing of students in a residential academic environment. They will offer individual and group counselling, respond to crisis situations, contribute to student development programs, and play an essential role in ensuring a supportive and nurturing atmosphere within the campus.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counselling and mental health support to students on a wide range of emotional, psychological, and adjustment issues.
  • Be available on campus full-time and on-call after working hours, including weekends, in cases of emergencies.
  • Conduct group sessions, workshops, and skill-building programs focused on mental wellbeing and student development.
  • Participate in behavioural monitoring and student support meetings as needed.
  • Maintain proper documentation and confidential records of all sessions and interventions.
  • Submit weekly reports on student wellbeing and highlight cases that need escalation.
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions, as per ethical guidelines.
  • Support student-related institutional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the administration.

Working Hours

  • Regular hours: Monday to Saturday, 5 PM – 9 PM
  • Available for consultations beyond duty hours and during emergencies
  • Weekly reporting to the Head of Student Affairs

Essential Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Psychotherapy / Social Work with at least 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from a recognized university/institute
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology required if the Master’s is in Social Work

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years to 5 years.
  • Experience should include individual and group counselling of adolescents/young adults in an academic, hospital, or mental health setting

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (where applicable) may reduce required experience.
  • Experience in residential academic institutions
  • Additional training in counselling techniques, therapeutic modalities
  • Administrative experience in managing counselling services
  • Fluency in English and Hindi; multi-lingual abilities preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Office and basic data handling
  • Proven ability to conduct workshops and awareness sessions
